I know I have left books out of this, mostly where a quick glance at the shelves is not quite enough to remind me... they'll be re-reads though.

I really want to read Candide, and am interested in Shappi Korsandi's book - I flicked through the first chapter, seemed readable if not earth-shattering.

Had forgotten I'd read the Complaints, even though I finished it just this month. Massively underwhelmed.

What did you think of Rafaella Barker's novel? I love love love her mother, Elspeth's, one novel, O Caledonia, and George's poetry. I hear American Wife is great, but the subject matter underwhelms me.

I really like Rafaella Barker - I've read some others of hers and thoroughly enjoyed them too. Shappi Khorsandi I highly recommend.

I really liked the first 2/3 of American Wife. I finally read it this year after having it sit on my shelf for quite some time. I was not a fan of GW but I actually loved his character in the book.

I've only read one Katie Fforde. Which did you like the best? My library has a couple and I thought I'd add them to the TBR pile.

Of the ones listed, probably Restoring Grace, followed by Going Dutch.

Just commenting to say I have friended you as I seem to have seen a lot of you recently and enjoyed your comments. Hope that's OK.

I'm interested by the new Rafaella Barker - I stopped reading her novels because I thought the more recent ones were markedly less good than the early ones which I loved ('The Hook' and 'Hens Dancing'). But I might try this new one. And I had no idea her mother wrote a novel too.

Thank you! I've always meant to get around to asking you if I could friend you, but inertia is strong around here. ;-)
