Mexican Food Suggestions

Please recommend some good Mexico food, as I call it. Here in Fresno, of course.

Preferably I'm looking for sit-down restaurants. And I don't mind if it's a little pricey. I guess what I want is really high-quality shit. I'm all about beans and cheese, and any place can do that, but I want something especially delicious and high quality. You know, ( Read more... )

-Los Gallos on fig garden drive! SO GOOD! It tastes homemade, I love it.
-Cochinito Contento in Tower. Again, pretty much homemade awesomeness.
-Mi Ranchito on Shields/Fruit. The guys there are fucking awesome and the tortas will make your head spin. They also sell pan dulce.
-Cuca's downtown, not the one in tower but the original one deep downtown.
-Try Toledo's in Clovis, it's good.
-I second Aurora's La Posada vote...it looks like someone's grandma's house.
-Chris' Meat Market Downtown.
-Julia's downtown, I can't think of where it is...but I can take you there!
-Taco Grande on Blackstone.

I don't really know of any really "nice" mexican restaurants besides Toledo's or Cuca's in Tower. Mostly I like down home cookins...but if you want something nicer try Toledo's in Clovis, good food and it's nice inside. Try a margarita, too.

For a decently nice place, try Antonio's on Blackstone and Nees or El Toro Tambien at Bullard and West. Cuca's in Tower is also pretty excellent.

I agree with Cole.

And Toledos is shit.

Oddly enough Mexican food kind of sucks in Fresno.

I've heard Plaza Ventana (Shaw and Blackstone) is good, but I've never been there.

Why does it have be a "nice" place? All that matters is if it is good! I can't really recommend very many places, as I haven't really eaten mexican food in the last year, as it tends to have lard or some other meat product in it...but what I do eat that remotely qualifies as Mexican is:

Taco Bell (haha)
and
Chipotle

Nice because it's for date night.
Taco truck may be tasty, but I don't want to go there for a date.
