I am sorry to hear about your disfunctional family. The comment you made about detaching yourself could perhaps be a sign that you are scared, afraid or insecure in which you perceive solitude will provide you with security to live. A disfuntional family has its negative effects and I hope that you can learn to adapt and cope with the stress in some positive way since such dilemma was out of your control. It was not your choice to have a disfunctional family, but it is your choice on how to deal with it. Everyone has a problem of their own that varies immensely by nature. Some problems are beyond our control, thus we can only adapt to the situation at hand and learn to deal with it in some positive way as negativity produces no positive results

Sometimes things happen for a reason that may not be clear at the moment. Maybe some time in the future, you'll understand what you fail to understand now and see a reason for its happening. Nothing is ever lost, and this will only make you stronger.
Be strong Oriel. Things will work out in the end. It always does.
