*blows you kisses*

Most of the creators have migrated over to Dreamwidth. are you over there?

;A;

*adores*

They did...? I think I remember a whole bunch of the old gang went off to better shores, yes.

I am over there, I just don't know how to use Dreamswidth, tbh. Perhaps I should try to get around a little.

Are there active comms over there? Because, gods, how I miss those...

I've found DW actually easier than LJ. Also, hi, sorry, my last few days have been crazy busy and while I've been thinking about your comment, time has been difficult to find.

I don't follow a lot of comms on DW, tbh. Most of the fandom is there, though, and they are busy and post quite a bit. Given my flist on LJ and my circle on DW, I would estimate that DW is about 2-1/2 times busier. I he few comms I do watch do have decent traffic.

I should search for comms, I guess. *sigh* I suck at being proactive, though.

Speaking of DW, I'm over there under the same name. I know a lot of kink memes and such are hosted on DW, but I don't know the fandom comms there are such. The only comm I'm part of is http://starwarsfruitbowl.dreamwidth.org/ it's pretty great for all things Star Wars!

Tumblr on the whole isn't suited to discussions or community feeling, no. I find it gets much easier when you have come across a group of like-minded people, some core group for your mutuals. Then you can talk to them over IM, or even on the dash. But come to think of it, unless they're friends of friends, you don't really meet people there, you just keep via Tumblr in touch with people you've met elsewhere.

Also, writer chatrooms, they're great, too.

But... it all used to be so much easier in the LJ days. Now it's a struggle to make these connections.

Ahhh....

I need to find all tohse places, seriously.

Also, hi. Gods how I miss you, and everyone else. It's like... I don't even think I realised it until I got rid of some dead weight a few months back. I just... I'd been SO busy keeping a person from killing themselves 24/7, that the rest of my needs, and my time, went missing in this toxic affair.

Nah, it's no one from LJ, and none of my darlings at home. Just... someone I thought was a good friend. Turns out they weren't.

There's this need to reconnect, and I need it like mad. Writer chatrooms sounds nice, too. What I'm really looking for, methinks, is something much like what LJ used to be. I'm going to start using DW (yup, I'm there) properly, and track everything down so I can, I dunno, just feel right again.

Hiii! :) Sounds like your months have been a terrible ordeal, I hope you're able to focus on your own needs a little better now. Getting back into the community part of writing sounds like a good start. I'm glad you got out of this toxic relationship.

I'll PM you the link to the chatroom in case you ever feel like giving it a try, it's not an LJ comm, but it's still nice, and they're wonderful people.

Yeah, something like the old LJ comms, Fruit Bowl is the only one I've found like that. Oh! There is one writing prompt comm for original fiction kinda like old speedwriting, but I never got into it since it has a competitive aspect - mandatory voting on the fics, you can't just share yours without running. I don't enjoy that.

Please tell me if you find something else!

I could link you to kink memes and such, though my knowledge is limited to star wars right now.

D:

...I don't wanna compete, gods. But, I see that ppl would like to write and get some feedback out of it, but naaah. No running for me, really.

I'm feeling way better than I've done in a long time, I think. Mum was really ill last year, and I had no strength to do anything, not even writing. That was that so called friend's doing, however.

And, I'd love to get PM <3 !!

Also, Red and I will go through DW and LJ for comms that are alive. We want to find something, anything, that can bring a some of that wonderful what-ever-it-was back.

*hugs!*

I wonder if the problem is tumblr as a medium, or the generation of fans who have come into the fandom since tumblr became the "go to" place. The culture has definitely changed since I joined TF fandom 10 years ago, jesus. I freaking miss LJ. I had a look around Dreamwidth just now but most of the TF comms seem to be dead ): I do like how convenient tumblr and AO3 are to use, but I miss being able to talk to people like we used to.
The younger/newer fans are used to having content served to them to consume - or paying someone to create it for them - and then scrolling on to the next thing.

Haaah, we are the old ones now!

But, yes. I fully agree.

And, I miss the fandom as it was a long time ago. I miss it /so bad/, and I don't know how to get it back. I do blame Tumblr for a whole lot of the problems - it's just not a great place for creators, or those who just want to be social while making amaaaazing art.

Perhaps it's possible to revive something, though. There are small comms here, and they are more or less still alive. I'm thinking of actually joining some small things, perhaps to write for specific prompts and so on.

I want someone to look at what I made, and acknowledge my hard work u////u

I think I would be a much different person in LJ fandom today than I was back then. WhooBOY learning curve! But I think you put your finger on it: tumblr is more for popularity and pr than creators talking honestly. I mean, the whole reblog feature keeps pushing some posts over and over again on tumblr feeds, so you see tons of those, but...people who aren't reblogging, but saying something themselves...it gets lost.

Come on over to DW! It's not LJ in its heyday, but hey, if enough of us get over there, we can try to make a good foundation!

Hah, I missed this reply long ago, when I wrote it.

But, yes, I agree - that. All of it.

Also, def trying to post more often in DW, because I dunno. I miss everyone still? <3

I think you've hit a fair point there about Tumblr. There is definitely an element of "consume, consume as quickly as possible, and move on". There's also the whole "if you, as a creator, don't fill me in on every intimate detail of your life, then you're not worth it". Combine that with the walking on needles because the next post could be you saying the absolute wrong that gets the Hounds of Social Justice set upon you, or even the self-appointed fandom watchdogs, and it's just... a mire. An uncomfortable mire ( ... )
