an unexpected gift

As we were leaving the house yesterday,  cycope and I noticed a dead bird.

Using my Holmesian skills at examining the evidence, I deduced that an animal had had its way with the poor thing and then abandoned it--on our sidewalk.

My prime suspect was the cat belonging to the frat next door.

Our first cat, Cricket, used to bring birds into the house (as presents for us, I suspect) -- but they were never dead, just injured...and when he was done 'playing' (vicious creature, really), there would be feathers and streaks all over the house. *sigh* I'm sooooo thankful that Neko is too much of a chicken to do that!

I think I'm glad we have a dog. He'll try to eat garbage--a fruit pit, stale cigarete butts--he picks up on walks, but he'd never attack another animal.

The frat cat must be good at catching rats and mice!
