Monday Night Shopping

Oct 23, 2006 22:05

Shopping on a Monday night is a rather dispiriting thing. The shops are mostly empty of customers, and the parking lots, always copious in America, are mostly empty too. It lends everything a feeling decline and one does not have to imagine too much to see the stores becoming derelict ( Read more... )

I am glad you mentioned that, because now I think of it, my new machine does actually boot a lot faster and I didn't know why before.

Also, yeah, I usually like deserted shopping, but it must have been something about the atmosphere of the night, or maybe just the people I happened to see, but there was something decidedly creepy about it.

It's kinda sad that assitance like that is so rare that it's startling when you find it though isn't it?

I like shopping when it's quiet. But no so quiet that you're the only one in the shop and staff are hovering around wanting to serve you when you just want to look in peace and quiet :)

Yes. It is really sad. I don't think I have ever encountered apathy like I did last night, so this guy was a real blessing...I mean I could tell he genuinely cared...and beyond that, he actually knew what he was talking about. Anyway, I have ranted about it enough.

And yeah, it is always that way, when you just want to look quietly you are inundated with helpful staff, but when you actually need help, you can't find a single soul up to the task...

Hehe, it wouldn't be so bad if they admitted when they don't know something...it annoys when they just make stuff up to cover the gaps in their knowledge!

Yes, I know! I never have the guts to just stop them, so I play along and listen, even though I know they are making stuff up, and then it is just more awkward when I say "I will just look around", but really I want to try talk to someone else that is compitent...but don't want to hurt the person's feelings.

I try to combat this by saying.."Oh, I have a couple issues" even when I only have one...that way if I do ask someone else, they might assume it is for a different issue...

This is a good point, goodness knows how many times those girls at HMV have wrote about you Gavin...

"That cute guy came in again today, and browsed the CDs a bit, but he still won't ask me out! :( "
