It was small, and it had no name at the front that could make noticeable its existence. The front door wasn't eye catching enough for people to even spare a look at it. He wondered why he ended up there; sitting on a pretty chair with orange and red cushions, elbows on a pretty table with a pretty glass top, sipping coffee in a pretty cup in silence, while staring at the pretty paintings and posters hanging on the walls of the café while it was pouring outside.
"Don't worry too much about it; if you’re here, then there must be a reason” said a deep but soft voice next to him.
A waiter (he supposed he was a waiter, because if not that would make the experience a bit more disturbing than it already was), looked at him with his semi-closed eyes, and with a kind smile.
When he was about to respond that no, he didn’t have a reason besides the potential danger of rain-induced pneumonia if he stayed out, he heard a voice behind him.
“Please, stop harassing the new customer, and go make some more coffee.”
The waiter only stared at the point behind him where he supposed was the other person for a few seconds, shrugged, and walked away.
“Don’t worry about him; it’s his way of attracting customers.”
“Has it worked?” he said while turning around, to see the face of the person he was talking with.
He saw a gummy smile, brown eyes and messy hair.
“Well… are you coming back?”

“Hyukjae, why doesn’t this cafe have a name?”
“It does have a name, Donghae.”
“I know, you idiot, I mean outside, a banner or something.”
“I could kick you out for this, you know.”
“But you won’t, because I’m a very special client, right?”
“You have to stop believing the things Jongwoon-hyung says.”
“You didn’t answer my question....”
“You know, I have other tables to serve.”
“No you don’t, Jongwoon-hyung and Kyuhyun are taking care of the other tables, because apparently only you
can serve me.”
“Really, Donghae, stop believing Jongwoon-hyung.”
“Hyukjae...”
“What?”
“My question.”
“Oh right…”
“So…”
“What was it again?”
“…Really, Hyukjae? Really?”
“Hey, I have bad memory at work.”
“Only at work?”
“You have no evidence to prove otherwise, now ask the stupid question or I’ll charge you the cake Jongwoon-
hyung gave you earlier that you thought I wouldn’t notice.”
“…Why doesn’t this café have a name at the front?”
“Oh that one’s easy, our banner is cursed.”
“Your… What?!”
“It tried to kill us, every time we tried to place it, it fell, on us.”
“Maybe you just suck at logistics?”
“Shut up, it was really scary! It would stay still until one of us went out of the door, and then it would fall, like trying to crush us.”
“Really?”
“Yes, the boss decided that the banner was cursed and we decided to work without one.”
“I see…”
“You don’t believe me? Ask Jongwoon-hyung.”
“You told me to never believe him.”
“… Ok so you’re paying for two cups of coffee and a chocolate cake…”

“Café Océano” became Dongahe’s favorite place after it saved him from getting soaked in the rain. The coffee was delicious (apparently that Jongwoon guy was really good at making it), the cakes and desserts were amazing and he quickly became used to find his usual table next to the counter empty and waiting for him.
That day, Jongwoon gave him a chocolate cake and told him to eat it quickly before Kyuhyun or Hyukjae noticed.
Kyuhyun winked at him and told him that he actually didn’t care as long as Jongwoon was the one scolded.
Hyukjae appeared precisely the second after Donghae finished the cake and was drinking his second cup of coffee.
Not even for a moment, Hyukjae looked at him suspiciously; he just walked past his table, and took a couple’s order with a gentle smile on his face.
When the waiter passed by Donghae’s table again, a piece of paper fell on the table, Donghae took it, and had to stop himself before laughing out loud.
“Next time, I’m making you eat the whole cake and pay for it.”

“Hyukjae, why do you work here?”
“Because every place needs a handsome face to make it successful.”
“Can’t you answer a question like a normal person?”
“To you? No.”
“You’re the worst waiter ever…”
“I never read in my contract that I had to answer the clients’ questions to be good waiter.”
“Well, you have to, because you have to please me. Now answer me, why do you work here?
“…You’ll let me work in peace if I answer you?”
“…Maybe.”
“Donghae…”
“OK, OK, I’ll be good.”
“It’s actually not an interesting story. A while ago I met this guy, he just came to the country to make his dream come true. Turns out his dream was to open a small café and live a peaceful life by exploiting his workers. Somehow, we ended up as friends, because, you know... I'm disturbingly charming... shut up or I'm not telling you the rest. Anyways, I kind of lost track of the guy, because we became friends casually after we ended up trapped in an elevator...”
“You what?”
“Well yeah, it was at campus. No one uses those elevators and I kind of forgot that they were a death trap. And, our friendship bloomed from bad luck, which I should have noticed as a sign that this guy was a monster. But I decided that his dream was a good one, since he phrased it as “making people happy with a warm place, a warm coffee and delicious food” and decided to help him to find a place. We spent two or three months searching, until the place that was here before “Océano” burnt down to ashes because it was...hey, hyung! What was here before “Océano”?”
“Wasn't the winning theory a hidden meth lab or something?”
“Oh right... so, a month or so after the fire, this dude could buy the place.”
“Wait, wait, why would you guys would use a place like that to open a café?”
“Because it's cheap, Donghae, try to keep up. Anyways, he bought the place, and got it recovered. Apparently he had contacts and everything ended up not as costly as you would think. Océano was officially inaugurated three months after he bought it. Jongwoon-hyung and Kyuhyun started working here two weeks after, because I'm amazing at finding people, and the banner tried to kill us a week after that.”
“And your boss...”
“Oh he comes from time to time to check on us, and be a general bastard with me when no one's watching.”
“That's a really weird story... and you wanted to work in here because you liked his dream or something?”
“No...you see, when “Océano” opened I found myself with an apron and a bowtie without being asked if I wanted be a waiter.”
“Why?”
“The boss knows martial arts, Donghae... you just... don't ask.”
~*~*~*~*
He never saw Hyukjae outside “Océano”.
Not because he didn't want to. To Donghae, “Océano” and everyone involved in it, were somehow separated existences from his world, his real life. He wasn't willing (not yet, at least), to let those two worlds meet.
Donghae didn't know about Hyukjae's life outside the café.
Not because he didn't want to, he asked, but Hyukjae was cleverly ambiguous on his answers, as if to him too, there was “this world” and “that world”, and those two couldn't meet yet.
Hyukjae never sat with him, not even when they were slow on clients, and he had nothing much to do besides wander around and clean the counter for the tenth time.
Not because he didn't want to. Hyukjae said to him, it was just that he couldn't stay still at the café. He would rather go around and clean stuff that was already clean, than sit down. He could talk while walking around, alongside a lot of tripping and slipping because multitasking wasn't actually his forte, but he could talk, and Donghae liked the company.
Donghae loved slow days in “Océano”.
Not because he was a bad guy or wanted the place to close. Slow days meant to Donghae that Hyukjae would be floating around the place while talking to him. He would hear the other's voice coming from under a table, then very close to the ceiling. He would laugh next to the bathroom and the noise would come as a strange one to his ears. Donghae then would get dizzy and would yell at Hyukjae for not staying still. Hyukjae would say he didn't care but would send Kyuhyun to end the cleaning and Jongwoon to make the orders for next month. He would then stay behind the counter, cleaning it and still talking to Donghae as if nothing had happened.
Donghae liked it when Hyukjae was busy.
Not because he could stare without being noticed.
Sadly he couldn't find another reason to liking Hyukjae being busy.

“So tomorrow is your day off?”
“Yep.”
“What are you going to do, then?”
“Well, it depends...”
“On what?”
“On where you're taking me, of course.”

He never understood why he ended up entering the small place that had no name at the front and wasn't noticeable enough for people to even spare a look at it.
That night, after Hyukjae told him to wait after closing up, after finally letting “that world and “this world” meet (by having a extremely long talk about what they did outside “Océano”), after finally having Hyukjae sitting next to him, after being kissed and kissing back, after sharing stupid giggles and more kisses, Donghae stopped caring about understanding.
“You know, Hyukjae... we should believe what Jongwoon-hyung says more often.”
