I was under the impression that they didn't take away Rumplestiltskin's magic, they just immobilized him so that they could get him to the prison where supposedly it would stop his magic. And they could do this because of his weakness for making deals whereas I think the queen probably has no weakness like that? So they wouldn't be able to trick her in such a way.

As for our world not being the hell Regina thought it would be... maybe this is a case of "the grass is always greener on the other side" meaning that what she thought was was being frozen in time, forgetting who they are, etc. etc. with her ruling was much better than what she had in the fairytale world. And she was warned that casting the spell would create a void in her that could never be filled so... I don't think she went into the spell hoping the outcome would make her happy, but that it would make everyone else lose out on their true lives/destinies ( ... )

I’m now thinking that Rumpelstiltskin deliberately chose to sign, even knowing their plan was to trap him. Because he was making comments about how she wouldn’t be thinking of tricking him, would she? There would be consequences if she tried to break their deal or imprison him, etc. etc. It was a bit too knowing for me to believe he was actually tricked ( ... )

Oooh very good point and something I didn't consider but I definitely think that's probably right that Rumpelstiltskin decided to sign knowing what was coming in the future ( ... )

I think people are disappointed because it seems like she gave in or ‘he won’ because she dealt, but I think it showed how sensible she is. He COULD have taken Ashley to court and at least pressed charges on the assault, even if he could never enforce the contract. That would mean that poor woman going through a lot of trouble, possibly being separated from her baby (‘Look, Your Honor, she knocked unconscious an upstanding member of the community, is she really a suitable caretaker?’) and having her reputation ruined.

I def think Emma did the best she could there.

I'm really bored with Terra Nova too. The only thing that could get me interested again would be if the Sixers end up being the actual good guys

Ha! I’m on the opposite side of that divide! I really like Taylor, so I’m afraid of him turning out to be a bad guy. PLEASE DON’T GO THERE, SHOW.

I was going to say I love the female relationships on this show too. :D I was really pleased to read the synopsis for an upcoming ep and find that some of the female characters are ( ... )

Haha, it's too late for meeeee, I cannot escape! Every time I watch the show now, in my head I'm cropping the screen to mentally make icons for them and all, and I'm seeing subtext everywhere, lol. I love our crack!ship.

And you're using my icon! :D

Hunger Games girl is kind of recognisable now for me.
I must have seen her Medium episodes because I definitely haven't seen her newer 'big' films.

I don’t think I saw her when I watched Medium…and I’ve def not seen her ‘big’ films, although I do know she got rave reviews for her performance in….Winter’s…Bone or something. She apparently pulled off that measured restraint and determination and toughness there, so I’m pretty confident, especially after seeing that trailer, that she will do well in this role. I’m just miffed it ain’t coming out til next year!

Yeah, I didn't watch much Medium after the first season or so. But I remember Allison being young!Allison (which was her apparently).

That's good to hear, well, not about the later release date. :/

I have to agree with what someone said about the Evil Queen. Prince Charming has a quill that can trap someone but all the Evil Queen wants to do is destroy his pregnant wife by whatever means necessary. I doubt the Prince could come up with a situation where he could say "sign this thing" and the Evil Queen would be "yeah, I'm sure you're cool with me destroying your new pregnant bride." Just saying. Haha.

LOL. No, it wouldn't work very well!

But maybe at some point between him meeting Snow and clearly liking her and him getting married, he could’ve deployed the Quill of Doom? The Queen wouldn’t know that he cares about Snow and he could’ve come to her as just another royal prince with absolutely no stake in her personal vendetta against Snow.

After the marriage, though, yeah, that wouldn’t be possible. But I’m sure he’d know any number of people that could try and entrap her for him!

And if they could make a quill that could entrap Rumpelstiltskin, I’m not sure what the limits are on that- why not a magic flower or fruit or something innocuous that they could sneak in without tipping her off?

Ofc, we know logistically that can’t happen because she needs to enact the curse otherwise NO SHOW, but still.

I know we discussed things on my LJ but ONCE UPON A TIME HAS TAKEN OVER MY BRAIN.

I think as far as Ashley and her actions were concerned, I saw her regret about adopting the child away as a result of peer pressure and people in town and so on who thought that she wouldn't be able to handle taking care of the baby, because when we see her with Emma she's really worn down and sad but then once Emma tells her to stop listening to other people, she becomes a lot more proactive. I think also that since it was a contract, she ought to be able to back out but because Mr Gold wasn't giving her that option, she decided to run away, which I think could be considered fair if you've been coerced into doing something you don't want to do.

As far as the debt being paid, the debt was paid by Emma making a deal with Mr Gold, so that kind of caused Sean to go to Ashley and them to be reunited.

I TOTALLY SYMPATHIZE, MY MIND IS READY TO DISCUSS THIS SHOW AT THE DROP OF A HAT.

This is how I saw her situation as well. Some people seem to think she was pressured into it or she had no choice, but I think from her defeated air, that it WAS her decision to give up the baby because she never had any confidence in her ability to be a fit mother and give it a good life. It was sad people didn’t encourage her, but it wasn’t like she was the helpless victim whose baby was being stolen from her. She didn’t even try to talk to Mr Gold about changing her mind, that’s why I’m not very sympathetic.

once Emma tells her to stop listening to other people, she becomes a lot more proactiveI loved that conversation- it ( ... )
