If life is like a box of chocolates, then mine must have some very interesting flavours.

So, I can't believe how fast this week has gone. I am in the midst of preparing for the feast at Beltaine this weekend. With Gemma's help, I was able to get all my baking done. So, dessert is ready to go. I will get everything else either tonight or tomorrow and get it prepped ( Read more... )

We struggled with my Grandfather (He had moved onto the farm with my folks and Hubby and I ... yes 4 generations under one roof). He had suffered several strokes and they had left an impact on his... judgements. We decided it was time for him to live with us when we caught him trying to kill spiders on the front deck with a blow torch! He struggled too, knowing that he was doing things that, in hindsite, were ludicrous. The ability to laugh things off WITH him made the world of difference to everyone. We all have our moments of errr" non clarity" (like Hubby finding the baby wipes in the fridge one day!)it does seem the frequency of them can be dang hard to not let get to you. Then again, being caught in my OWN flub ups and having grandpa turn to me and ask if I had suffered a stroke kept things in a humorous perspective ( ... )

It's nice to hear that your mom is finally settling into a new pattern. Good on y'all for going through this difficult time with her. It's cool that you can find the humour. :)

You? Make the BEST feasts! Though I won't be there for it, I know it'll be a smash hit!

We can't wait for the feasty honey! And no fretting - it will be faboo! Everything you do is : ) And if not KFC is great too ; )

I am so happy to hear good news about your mum. Wonderful what a difference good care facility with a good environment can do isn't it?? I am sure it is a huge weight off your shoulders knowing she is as content as she can be under the circumstances. I always hated the fact that Gran never felt at ease in her care facility....

So Mr. Chef lad? Are you going to get to play some this weekend??? HMM??

It's Jimmy's b-day so there will be some shenanegans fer sure ; ) Just warning you....

I'm glad you can have such a good relationship now with your mom. One of the hospice ladies here said that after you don't have to be the "caregiver" you can try to actually be a "daughter" or "son" again :)

Maybe your life is a box of every-flavor-beans, grin. I think mine might be!

Good luck on your feast, I'm sure it will be fabulous!
