The zen belief about why there is global conflict is just an overwrought spiritual description of the truth: people fight because they have different opinions, very strong ones, as soen-sa said after his blind man speech. There is no pointless thought, everything we go through and experience molds us, even the smallest of thoughts. And I don't see how having only meaningful thoughts would prevent the development of strong beliefs different from others
