School was... well, school. Another day packed full with social interaction, social mistakes, and general social confusion. And homework, which he began upon return to Bannerman Road. Given that the weather is on the warm side, he left his window open ( Read more... )

Try making that the only parental figure in this house, thank you very much.

Said parental figure is currently in the dining room, where she has her laptop out and a Very Important Article to work on. Her cup of tea has surprisingly gone cold by now as her fingers fly over the keyboard.

Thankfully, there is one sound that can make her stir from her work. No, it isn't that Strange and Unusual Sound (because that has to be in her imagination, it has to be). It happens to be the sound of Luke's voice.

"I'm in here!" Sarah shouts back, turning a little in her chair to look for him.

The Strange And Unusual Sound™ belongs to a Strange and Unusual TARDIS™ that belongs to the Doctor™, who may or may not be bounding up the stairs towards Sarah Jane's house.

Why?

Because!

It's an excellent reason, if you ask the Doctor.

He gives a rap to the door of the house. It is Sarah's house, isn't it? Oh, wouldn't it just be embarrassing if it wasn't?

"Luke, what's going-"

Just as she had found Luke in the hallway, there's a rap at the door. Sarah Jane sighs, rolling her eyes. She had been on quite the roll, finishing her story on what turned out to be a crop circle hoax.

"Oh, now what is it," she mutters, turning about and gesturing for Luke to follow. Impatiently, she shouts, "One moment!"

Thankfully, it's not a long walk to the front door.

The Doctor shifts from foot to foot, looking up at the side of Sarah Jane's home. She's done rather well for herself, he decides. Much better off than that tiny flat Jo had the last time he visited her. How long ago was that? Far too long. He really was neglectful of his beloved companions.

The door opens and he grins widely.

"Miss me?"
