I read Memiors of a Geisha against my better judgement. I was right, it sucked.

Lets not even talk about the movie. (I refused to see it)

I know it's because of the rarity of Asian actors that speak English, but Hollywood Asian castings are quite annoying because with the exception of several ambiguous looking people that can portray several ethnicities, most Chinese, Korean, and Japanese look different. Guess that Westerners can't tell the difference, but Zhang Ziyi doesn't look Japanese AT ALL. You can't help wondering why the hell the Chinese chick is a geisha. It's like casting a dark-haired Irishman to play an Italian.
