In your own space, talk about a creator. Show us why you think they are amazing.
Since I already talked about my favorite creators in my current fandoms for
Day Two, I'm gonna throw back to an older fandom and talk about my favorite fan author ever.
Day Ten If there is one fan author that's shaped my way of looking at the written word as much as certain published authors have, it's
paloma_cayendo. When I was first getting into My Chem, during my very early baby steps, a friend linked me to her works, and I am very grateful that they did. She was primarily a Waycest writer, but she's written other pairings such as Gerard/Frank, Bert/Gerard, Pete/Mikey, and several other crossovers. It's her Waycest that really shines though, and she really runs the gambit of style when it comes to Waycest. From consensual almost-fluff (none of her works are terribly fluffy, as I recall) to the more triggering side of incest.
Her writing style is incredibly unique for fandom. Dark and deep, poetic and powerful. I actually hold her in as high regard as I do Chuck Palahniuk when it comes to rhythm, sentence structure, and word choice. I've read every single one of her Chem stories, including the crossovers where I didn't know the other band. I've never found anyone in any fandom before or since whose works make me feel the way hers did. Many of them are still burned into my head, to be recalled when I'm having a period of nostalgia for my early Chem days.
Some of my favorite works of hers include
A Brief History Of Who I Love [Gerard/Mikey],
A Little Death [Mikey/Gerard],
Autumn Comes to Belleville, New Jersey [Gerard/Mikey],
Eighteen Forever (Sun Poisoned) [Gerard/Frank], and her sixteen part epic
Mix Tape [Ray/Gerard].
And you can check out her
Masterlist for a complete list of her My Chem RPF.
