Ignore...it's there for a reason..
I limit my facebook friends so that only people who I want to know my life details about are my friends...and when I accept a new friend, I delete an old one... to keep the number capped!

Putting my professional hat on for a moment, I'd say no you don't. However the questions I'd ask are "what is your friending policy" and "what information do you use this site for?"

The internet is a big community, like any community you don't have to be friends with everyone you meet but using your normal excellent boyrssnorc manners won't hurt. Maybe send them a note saying you're flattered but you only friend people you've met...

Have a think about it.

Tact and diplomacy haven't ever really been my strong suits :)

When I get requests of such nature, I usually click-back, and find out what I can about the requester. If they're not a time-wasting Froot Loop, I've found it's worthwhile linking them in. I've met some very interesting people that way.

I do recommend the research first, though.
