Insomnostalgia

Man, I am tired. Probably a result of not sleeping when I ought to. It's intentionally done, though. I think I stopped updating because I forgot what the posterity element of the journal felt like, if that makes any sense. I'm updating now mostly reflexively. I found myself looking through my old entries the other day and so here I am again, ( Read more... )

From experience, the midwest t'aint to pleasant weather-wise...

Though everywhere has it's ups and downs, I suppose. Maybe you could take time to travel for a month or so? Visit a different area every few days, spend a day or so there, then move on again? Don't know if that's affordable or practical, but it's an idea.

I've actually kicked that idea around a lot, but I am poor, poor, brokety-destitute. So, I haven't a clue how I would deal with the money aspects. That's a big part of why I haven't visited family and friends. Hell, I haven't even gone to Wisconsin where my brother and grandmother live. Kind of sucks, but I knew what I was getting into.

Yeah, i know the broke-ity-broke bit.

One the one hand, if you've got transportation and can find friends who'll put you up in various places (and feed you) that can eliminate half the cost right there - hotels and food are killer expenses when it comes to traveling.

Well, I gave away my car before I came to Chi-town; so, I haven't got that aspect very well covered. My old boss actually offered to come and get me physically, as have a couple of friends; but those offers are meant to be one-way. Still, it is very flattering having those offers.

I shall try. Hey, I can't help noticing the irony that we never got to meet-and-greet back when I was around. We should try that if I ever come back around. How've things been over your way, anyhow?

It's good to be heard. I'd like to make a habit of it. You know, I had a dream wherein I used an equal amount of logic to my waking experiences and had a small insight that I considered worth remembering once I woke. Have you ever done that?

Wow. Ya know, mine don't usually work that sensibly but that would be great if they did.

Well, they're not all like that. It was noteworthy. I still think dreams have structure underneath the symbolism and such. I used to have dreams where people I knew were trying to tell me these ephemeral things and I felt like I would already know them if the actual words would simply coalesce for me. That's not too far from how I feel every time I have a conversation that isn't purely based in pleasantries, you know?

oh my look at the time, i'm up only an hour earlier um later um something than you. perhaps i will ramble in your general direction soon. i've enjoyed our insightful ramblings that sometimes cross paths and I too have forgotten and only recently been struck by the posterity element. useful, interesting, enlightening, somewhat heartening. so i hope to be back on a more regular basis. nice to see that the same may be true for you. but god forbid we try to predict ourselves :)

Ha. You know, part of me thought I had driven you away from journaling through some of my histrionic spill-over. I ended up getting all the Calvin and Hobbes books in English when preparing to move westward, which I probably wouldn't have thought to do if we hadn't conversed about it. So, how is life and energy in Canada?

Did I ever tell you I came up with a philosophical hypothesis of my very own? Not to say someone hasn't beaten me to it, but I don't think I drew from the same sources, at the least.

Good to see you around.
