For the past couple of years I have been unable to do automated kiosk check-ins at the airport. I've only been flying American (by coincidence), and I figured maybe it was just an issue with them.

Not so. This morning I found out that I particularly cannot check in online for a Southwest flight. I was on the phone with smallerdemon who did the same thing

I may have figured it out.

You went to Russia as a teenager when it was the Soviet Union. And you did NOT subsequently go on to a career in the CIA or NSA.

That's all I can think of.

My theory is that people who run the ticket counters want to meet "That Singer Guy" so they make you come to the counter. But alas, their bubbles are burst when you show up, and they are too embarrassed to fess up. Hence, the silent treatment on the whys and wherefores.

Its just a theory... ;)
