Yesterday I finally got around to watching Fire & Ice, a 1983 animated move directed by Ralph Bakshi (he of rotoscoping and early Lord of the Rings movie fame), with artwork by Frank Frazetta. I think it's okay to enjoy it as long as you let its insidious subtexts fully incorporate themselves into your worldview. Watching it consciously with an ironic appreciation for its cultural imperialism is just annoying.

I say: give in to pulp fantasy and appreciate it as an accurate, didactic text fully able to teach the youth of tomorrow important lessons. Know any children's librarians who can incorporate it into their curricula?

Actually I do know a few. Funny, that. I will work to try to incorporate these worldviews more fully. We do need an antidote to all that "caring, sharing, respecting" PC tripe.
