I miss springtime in Ashland/Framingham/Natick

Did you know that I believe in a prince of PEACE, not a prince of war? Did you know that I worship the almighty counselor, not the almighty warlord? Did you know that my lord and savior rode into Jerusalem on a pathetic little donkey, not a huge and powerful warhorse that a king would ride into a city? That's my Jesus. That's the one I love. Matthew 24:6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not frightened or troubled, for this must take place, but the end is not yet.

Seriously, don't worry about it: The world will be in constant war straight up until the end times and there is nothing you can do about it. That doesn't make it right but it means it is not something that should occupy your time.

If I do that, I'm denying my Christianity. It occupied Jesus' time. It HAS to occupy my time.

No no non onononono how can everybody not care about this?

I agree with you to some degree, Dan. But there are points on both sides. Think about these verses for a while....

34"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35For I have come to turn
" 'a man against his father,
a daughter against her mother,
a daughter-in-law against her motherinlaw-
36a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.'--Matthew 10:34-36

I agree Jesus is a God of peace and I don't like war at all. But I also think he believed there were two sides to the issue and that the motive behind the war needs to be carefully considered. It should be a rare solution if ever necessary. I just don't think we should be activists unless the Lord's name is at stake--and even then we have to prayerfully consider if it's the Lord's will. Look at Matthew 26:51-54--where Peter cut off the high priest's servants ear in defense of Jesus and Jesus corrected him and said he was wrong.

...interesting stuff....

I honestly believe Jesus was referring to the life we will be called to live as Christians if we chose to follow him. If we truly follow Jesus, then our own mothers fathers and brothers and friends will turn against us ( ... )
