Zuzu

I am completely disgusted with Menu Foods in Ontario and their neglegence in this cat and dog food recall. After spending hours on the web, and of course trying to weed out the crap crust a lot of people throw out there, it seems to me that the notification of the recall happened far too late after the initial animals died. This isn't even an FDA ( Read more... )

I am really glad that Zuzu is OK. It would really break my heart if she was a victim of this.

I have had issues with Menu Foods (and also other companies that were affected by this recall, like Iams/Eukenuba) long before this issue came to light (most notably because they test on animals... and not nicely either). In this case, they were aware of this problem since at least February when 9 of 45 test animals died.

If you can get Nutrience where you are, they are made here in Montreal and they use only human grade meat and no fillers. Everyone I know who uses it swears by it.

"I would like to see this company in Ontario go bust. I'd like to see them close the doors never to operate again." In that case all airlines should be grounded and nearly every enterprise, especially the US Government should be shut down. You don't throw thousands of people out of work for something that can be fixed. Companies recall products all the time. For crissake the company that make thalidomide managed to fix their problem and got the corrected product back on the market! The investigators are still not 100% sure that it was the products that caused the 9 cases. This company employs thousands of people in at least 5 states and 2 provinces. You want them to be out of work and have the industry shut down? Someone on a reserve here wants to sue the company because his pet has kidney failure. And there is 0 proof that he was even feeding his animal any of the products in question. There are an entire raft of people who want to make a fast buck who are blaming this company for their pets' demise. You know how deeply I care for ( ... )

Of all the examples available to use for your point, you choose "especially the US Government" in your post? I'm sure the Managers at Menu Foods Income Fund would be flattered as opposed to being compared to the Canadian Government?

Unfortunately, we don't get to elect the managers at Menu Foods, so we can only boycott their bad decisions and hope the companies that don't kill their customers will hire those that get laid off by the bad ones.

my bad - I agree no one is exempt. I cited the US government because their screw-ups of late have made so many headlines. However, Harper and his cronies are in the running for biggest idiots, wastrels and poor management and let's not forget that my province has an election Monday ( ... )
