How "Homeland" and "The Walking Dead" have made me a better writer

I love suspenseful, scary movies and TV shows ("American Horror Story" is one of my favorites). And, well, add zombies or the CIA and terrorists? I'm hooked. But those shows offer more than just edge-of-my-seat TV: they both have great writing. Love both these shows, and love this post.

I've been paying attention too, as I watch, trying to learn better craft. Some excellent writing on TV/cable these days.

Ok, this was crazy-helpful. Especially to a gal who may or may not have been off her game lately.

Also? Ok, maybe I'll get over my zombie thing and start watching that show after all. With all of the lights turned on.

It's SO GOOD. The zombies are amazing. If you think of it as good for your writing, that might make it less scary.
