MAQ Software - Don't interview with them!!

Mar 06, 2006 00:38

Here is a recent email I wrote to HuskyJobs regarding this employer:

I would like to file a complaint against MAQ Software. I recently had an on-campus interview with them and felt that not only was it a waste of my time, but the questions asked were inappropriate for a job interview.

During the interview, I felt I was verbally abused when asked about my high school GPA. (I answered I had a 3.3 GPA which the interviewer condescendingly replied, "Well, that's sort of low, isn't it?") He also asked questions such as how long I worked each day and implied that I should have been working 14 hours days instead of 8.

Also, I believe he knowingly asked questions about a former employer which violated a non-disclosure agreement. Examples included questions about business strategy, and customer base, and proprietary technology.

Overall, I felt that he wasn't interested in hiring at all, and had a hidden agenda. I later did some research and found that the mean salary in that company is WELL below the mean salary for the software industry.
($38k vs. 50-60k entry level) This interview was a huge waste of my time. I don't even feel it gave me much practice towards future interviews.

Thank you very much. Overall, my experience with HuskyJobs has been excellent. I value this service on campus as it is a great convenience to me as I try to graduate and look for a job at the same time.

I will consider making this post public only if/when I find out more about this company. I have also alerted my former employer about them.
