You're right about all that, but as a guy who commutes to work by bicycle, and follows the rules, what pisses me off are drivers who don't know that I'm supposed to be riding in the lane. I get honked/yelled at all the time: "Get out of the road, go ride on the sidewalk," and I'm like, "Uh, I'm supposed to be here in the road with you. I get a lane of my own when there's no bike lane."

That guy sounds like a fucking douche, though.

i completely agree. a lot of drivers suck and it only adds to the problem and makes it all a self propagating circle of frustration, anger, and hate. this is a problem for both populations and the result of a general lack of education or any attempt at enforcement by the city.

i'm contemplating ways to remedy this problem and i hope to take some kind of case to the city that a lot needs to be done. the mayor wants boston to be a bike heaven and the number of riders will only increase with oil prices. the current system of hope and prey everyone is nice to each other and that no one gets hit or dies will not work any longer.

also did you know the fine for any traffic violation by a cyclist is a maximum $20, with no option to impound the bike unless the individual is under 18? i wish i could run a red light in my car and only get a $20 fine.

we need licensing, registration, insurance, and equality for all roadway users.

bike laws are f-ed up. legally they dont belong on the sidewalk, but physically they dont belong on streets. mixing bicycles and cars and truck is just bad news.

as a bike riders, ive always had it out against roller bladers, mostly because they look funny and get to ride on the sidewalk..

cant believe a dude slapped you, though. id have run his ass over. time to keep a paintball gun in your car, i say.
