Is it bad to give your baby cold fruit (baby food)?

You mean don't heat it up? I always gave it room temperature. As long as it was something that they COULD eat. Like no bananas for a 2 week old, no shrimp for a 6 month old, no peanut butter, etc.

Oh, citrus, but then they dont make citrus baby food, do they?

Gerber makes some orange, banana, strawberry fruit stuff. It's pretty good and Steven loves it.

The reason I asked this is because Steven loves cold applesauce and bananas. I warm up his veggies, just a little so that they aren't cold. But he loves some of his fruits chilled. My mother said that it isn't good to do that and I was wondering why?

Well I dont think chilled is bad (old wives tale just like chilled formula, if you ask me), but I just stuck with room temps. Can't see WHY it would be bad, unless it was really cold and would give him an upset tummy like if you were to eat ice cream too fast.

The fruit isn't freezing, it's just chilled out of the refrigerator. I don't think it gives him an upset stomach. He always gobbles it up and doesn't complain.

I don't think it would do any harm, I personally like my fruit cold. Nothing better than an apple, strawberries or melon right out of the fridge. :)

There is NOTHING wrong with it. My mother and I fought for 2 months straight about whether or not Ryleigh should get cold bottles. Now Ryleigh refuses them, because I didn't give them to her for a couple of weeks. They NEVER gave her an upset tummy or anything.

Dmi' actually prefers things chilled (or at least room temp)... fruit, veggies, formula, yogurt, etc. The ped says that's fine as long as he doesn't show signs of distress.
