...somehow I have the feeling that I'll remember where I was and what I was doing when I found out Michael Jackson had died. Like 9/11 and...the death of Princess Di, for whatever reason.

I didn't have a TV until he was well past his prime, but do you remember the hand slapping game to Rocking Robin? One of his songs. And I remember people talking about moonwalking a lot, one of the really athletic boys could do it and everyone was impressed.

Back when I only loved Elvis and Beethoven, I stayed for a week in a friend's room with a CD player (they were still unusual then!). He had three CDs: Elvis' Live in Madison Square garden, Jackson's Dangerous, and another CD that I don't think I ever listened to.

Having my head in the sand about racial issues, I was a bit fascinated by "Black or White" and listened to it on repeat the whole week.
