A fic that details the events of 4/25, around noon. Because Kaji didn't want to end up talking to herself! Warnings for incredible fluff.
To say she wasn’t nervous would have been a lie. Izumi Kazuhiko was an intimidating man, even to his own daughter, and to ask him directly for his reasons…Yue felt as though she was walking right into the wolf’s den. Nevertheless, it had to be done, and so here she and Alejandro were, sitting quietly in the room her father had designated, and waiting. Yue was silent, although her tension seemed to be apparent, as Alejandro had settled his hand over hers.
She’d turned her head to smile at him, curling her fingers around his, when she heard the rustle of feet on the tatami mats. He was here. Yue straightened up, hiding her hands in the kimono sleeves. Her father’s face was impassive, but she swore she saw a flicker of amusement in his eyes as he looked them over before sitting down. Kazuhiko’s voice was low and rumbling, the sort of thunder that had made Yue wonder if he was a dragon, as a child.
“You said you had wished to speak with me…?”
“Yes…Father, I--we wish to know why is it we have been forced into this arrangement.”
“…The both of you wish to speak to me on this matter, is it?”
“Yes, Izumi-san. I am afraid neither of us is pleased with this situation…I believe we deserve to know the reasons behind this arrangement.”
Katsuhiko was silent for a moment, regarding the pair. When he spoke, he sounded genuinely curious.
“…Do you two not get along, then?”
“…What?”
“No, I can see that you do…Tell me, Yue.” She nearly jumped as he turned his full attention on her. “Do you have an objection to being forced to marry this specific person, or are you objecting to the fact this was arranged?”
“…Father, I don’t see what that has to do with it.” Katsuhiko chuckled, shaking his head. Yue flustered some, biting her lip to try and keep her temper.
“You see, the reason itself is quite simple. Miguel and I had noticed that the two of you are quite similar…so it seemed sensible to merely save time and arrange these things now.”
“What?” Beside her, Yue was pretty sure she’d heard Alejandro choke, but she was a bit too shocked to check.
“The two of you make a good match.” Her father stood, leaving the both of them staring at him, shellshocked.
“Now if either of you have objections that are not objections to the arranged marriage on principle, I will hear you out then. Good day.”
The two of them sat there, for a long while, still completely stunned by that. Eventually, Alejandro managed to speak.
“…I…think I may owe my father an apology.”
“P…possibly.” Yue let out a slow breath, trying to get her bearings. “…How the hell did they know?”
“…I don’t know.”
