Still in Graz

As previously promised, I'll tell you about the traditional regional folk dance we went to last week. There were twenty different kinds of partner dance based on the polka or the waltz. There were even two dances where, instead of a couple, a man and two women danced together. There were some circle-dances, and some dances required participant ( Read more... )

You asked for comments, so comments you will get. From a dorky friend, but comments nonetheless.
Have you taken social dance at Carleton? Or do you just know how to waltz because that's the sort of thing you learned? Either way, you should stop by social dance club sometime.

How much biking are you doing? I suppose if you've got a steep .6km uphill to get to your apartment, there are probably a few hills around. Seen any cool nature in the nature-park?

It's too bad that you're only coming up with stuff to say in French right now, because I have a feeling that when you get to Canadia, you'll probably start thinking in German. This might present a bit of a problem, because both English and French are presumably more widely spoken. Good luck with that regardless.

Hey. It actually sounds pretty cool from where I'm sitting...in NJ getting over being sick and with a full time job that starts at 8:30 in the morning. Seriously, I would love to be where you are right now.

Take care, have a good summer, and I hope I hear from you more. Don't just vanish, please.

Hey! Good to hear/read that you're alive and in Austria. Last I knew, you were presumeably in Alaska . . . ? I forget who told me that, Ginny maybe. Will you be back on Greensboro this winter or are your parents going on more globetrotting adventures? I hope I get to see you at some point, as it will have been a year and a half this winter since we've laid eyes on eachother.

Love to you, and say hi to the family for me!

Alaska? Oh dear, we really are out of touch! I'll be back on Greensboro around Thanksgiving, but I'll have to leave near Christmas.

I went straight from college to Austria, then I flew to Oregon, where I am now. On Friday, I fly to the Yukon and drive south to Atlin, which is just into British Columbia. After seven weeks of sunbathing and relaxation at Atlin's research station at the edge of the Taku wilderness region, I'm flying back to Oregon. Shortly thereafter (date TBD) I fly to St Louis to live with my Grandfather and meet his new cat (his faithful canine companion of 18 years passed away a few weeks ago). Then I fly up to college a week and a half early to do sound for a play about sex at college that is put on every year for the freshmen.

Whew.

Dammit, I know I'm spectacularly lucky to be able to do all this stuff, but I miss my hometown and HS friends! I miss my house and bedroom!

Take care, and let's make plans for winter!

*cue evil laughter*

My aunt and uncle are never getting use of their computer back, ever again. Well, until I leave Friday.
