A couple days ago I woke up to the realization that I've been battling a mild depression since Fuente. I greeted the day noticing the all-too-familiar symptoms -- random insomnia, fatigue throughout the day, disinterest in work, and a general negative outlook when in reality nothing is wrong. Good story Ms. Lily and good on you for having such patience! Man I would have thrown something at the girl who was like "jesus is perfect!" Very teacher like indeed.

I can't recall if I knew words like savory and appeased at age 11. I remember once Orli and I were talking next to her 14 year old sister and in the middle of our conversation the sister asks: "What's a martyr?"...which struck me as odd (her not knowing that word at age 14).

So yeah, I don't really get when kids are suppose to know words.

Sadly, Danna is now 16 and still has the vocabulary of a 9 year old. Our cousins are worse. The worst part is they're not mentally deficient, they just don't care. And I don't get how they don't see that a good vocabulary is just a stepping stone to a good job, a good life...understanding the world around you with more than just Twilight vocab.

Jeffrey's class all seem to like the "A to Z Mystery" series, which, according to the Scholastic website is about 2nd to 3rd grade reading level.

what a lovely post. I miss catching the nuances of our days that don't necessarily translate when we play catch up or bouts of rant. I'm so happy to have such articulate friends by verb and writ!
And that is a sure fire healthy way to get yourself motivated. But yes, your patience is positively saintly! I could learn to deal so much better with (grow'd) kids if I had your tact
