hi there. stumbled across your lj. i'm leaving for a year in auckland, nz next september. thought it would be great to read about your travels. i also have a question...did you find getting the working holiday permit hard? and how early ahead of time did you apply?

Well I think it depends on where you are from, I didn't look, but if you are from the US, visit the immigration NZ page, under working holiday scheme and it normally will tell you when there are more openings.

In my case, I applied the day that more openings opened (May 1) and it took me about 3-4 weeks to hear back that I had been granted one. The hardest part I think was getting together the little things you need to have to go-such as money and insurance. Well I'll let you know how it goes.
