Cecil Harvey
I. Kain's BFF from childhood, Cecil is someone who Kain respects greatly and also holds insane amounts of jealousy toward. He feels immensely guilty about betraying him, even with Cecil's insistence of forgiveness. He's even doubly guilty of betraying him, since he also knocked him out for their plan in 012. Since Cecil has had amnesia about everything at home, Kain has felt a need to prove himself worthy of his friendship. This somewhat worked, since he'd helped to save Rosa once, but since then Kain also had a Dark Side incident and attacked him. He feels considerable guilt about that.
II. Kain's memories of Cecil are very confusing. He remembers helping him to free hostages from Chaos' side. Yet he also remembers fighting him in an intense battle, one which ended in Kain exploding. For now, he's fairly sure Cecil didn't cause the explosion. For some reason, he feels compelled to prove himself to him... though he can't figure out why. He's unsure overall whether he's a friend or a foe.

II. Edge arrived and to Kain's surprise, knew him from the world they'd originally come from. Kain asked him about the past, and thanks to Edge has learned a great deal about the person he was meant to be. Much of it not good. Still, he doesn't blame Edge for it and at least for the moment bears no hard feelings toward him.

Golbez
I. Formerly an evil master he bowed to, Golbez presents yet another dilemma for Kain. On the one hand, Kain realizes that Golbez was used just the same as he was, and sees Cecil starting to accept him. He knows that it would be irrational to hate him on principle. On the other... Golbez is a reminder of the horrific past, someone in whom Kain sees some of his own failings reflected back at him. He can't help but hold resentment toward him. Yet Golbez was also the one who told him of the nature of the war cycles in 012.
II. Golbez showed up with information about previous cycles of war, which Kain found of considerable interest. He's hoping that what Golbez knows will help them out of their current predicament. Kain also learned of his fate during the twelfth cycle from him.

Terra Branford
I. Prior to the new round of cycles, Kain only vaguely knew of Terra as a brainwashed puppet of Kefka. They had no significant interaction at that time, aside from perhaps fighting when they ran across one another. They got to know each other better when the new cycles began. Although they didn't meet in the best way (she zapped him with magic), Kain has gotten very close to Terra over time. They've especially bonded over similarities in their past, both of them having a history of being mind-controlled and doing horrible things against their will. There's also a mutual hatred of Kefka. Then there was that time they kissed... something which Kain doesn't yet understand and has yet to sort out his feelings about. Despite that uncertainty, he still wants to spend more time around her.
II. Kain remembers Terra being present when he exploded, and helping him somehow. Also, she was among those he helped to rescue from kidnapping. He also recalls a much more pleasant memory- of kissing her. Whoever she is, he's decided right away that she's someone to trust. Perhaps something more, but he's unsure of that.

Kefka
I. In the 012 cycles, Kefka was an enemy, and also the one responsible for controlling Terra. Kain despises Kefka for that, and also because his Dark Side seems to be fond of him. Kefka has that creepy power over people that reminds Kain of Zemus/Golbez, and knowing his history makes him all the more hateful of him. Especially because he was the one who controlled Terra. Kain would like to avoid him if he can, but his Dark Side unfortunately makes this difficult.
II. Kain is fairly sure that he had something to do with Terra's kidnapping.

Exdeath
I. Kain had significant interaction with Exdeath in 012, first refusing to give him his hidden allies' location (and having to face down a bunch of manikins of himself that Exdeath had conjured). Later on, Kain stayed behind to fight him and hold him off, letting his allies run ahead to the rift. He defeated Exdeath, though it was a difficult battle. In the new set of cycles, Exdeath killed Terra. Kain vowed revenge, but ultimately lost it to his dark side because of Exdeath's actions.

Tifa Lockhart
I. In the 012 cycle of battles, Kain helped Tifa fight off Ultimecia, before revealing his traitorous plan and running off. Tifa caught up to him and gave him a potion, since he was hurt from all the fighting he'd been doing. Despite his warning her away, she remained a loyal friend. She was one of the comrades who fell in battle with him. But they didn't have much significant interaction in the first of the new cycles.

I. In the 012 cycle of battles, Kain traveled with Firion, and they had been comrades in previous cycles as well. I. Facing horrible odds of survival against the endless manikin horde in 012, Kain and Light talked and decided they had no choice but to yield this war in hopes of having a better chance in the next. Plans were formed, oaths were sworn- Light would act as Kain's shield in a sense, protecting their cause and eventually notifying Cosmos of their idea. While meanwhile Kain went around putting allies to sleep. They didn't meet in the first round of the new cycles.

He somehow doubts he'll regain his trust.

I. While Kain blames Chaos for taking him there, he also blames Cosmos for rejecting him, as he sees it. But there's also a part of Kain who just blames himself for not being good enough for her, and he's tried to prove himself 'worthy' of her... but mostly only so he can be closer to his friends. Yet he really still has a lot of loathing for her too, because despite Cecil's total devotion to her, Kain is just not willing to trust in any powerful individual who uses people as pawns. He blames Cosmos as much for the war as Chaos and would sooner attack her.

Rosa Farrell
I. Kain is still deeply in love with Rosa, much to his own frustration. He'll do anything to protect her, or just to gain her attention. But he's also trying not to let his Dark Side out around her... because he knows all too well what that side is capable of.
II. Kain remembers helping to rescue Rosa from a Chaos-side kidnapping plot. So far, he knows she must be someone very important to him. She's certainly a pretty woman, as far as he can tell in his memory. Her being sent away was saddening, and likely will be even more so once he regains more memories.

I. Toothless counts as one of Kain's best friends... because HELLO, DRAGON. Kain grew very close to Toothless, enjoying his company, and being genuinely happy to have him around. He also came to trust him in battle as a powerful ally. After Kain had died, he did have to put up with more protectiveness from his dragony buddy... not that he minded (too much). Kain broke down and let out his Dark Side when Toothless went home. He'll always miss him.

I. Kain especially loathes Haseo, because Haseo killed him in a fight. He's since sworn revenge and would eagerly attack him at any chance he can get.
II. Kain remembers being killed by Haseo. Not exactly the best memory to wake up to. He loathes him with all his strength and is glad that he doesn't seem to be around. Should he return, Kain will be happy to enact revenge upon him.

I. Someone who has allied with Kefka, and thus isn't anyone Kain will ever trust. Even more after the entire kidnapping incident, wherein Kuja had a role in messing with Kain's mind, particularly regarding his love for Rosa. Of course, Kain's Dark Side was interested in following him, all the more reason for caution. He was an enemy in 012, aligned with Chaos and often seen around Kefka, but Kain himself had few personal dealings with him in there.

I.
