Okay, you do not know this but I have been desperately hoping that Kelly would perform a full version of this song correctly with a good/great audio available since she performed it on American Idol almost SIX AND A HALF YEARS AGO!!! And now I have it!!! Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you!! I love Kelly's voice period, but singing standards!?!? It is to die for, absolutely to die for. This and the two Tony Bennett standards she did at his 80th party (Man, why couldn't those have been released in HQ format!??!) are my favorite vocal performances by her ever.
So thank you, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! I'm getting an mp3 of this and listening to it ALL DAY LONG NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know if she got back with a vocal trainer or what but it's apparent Kelly is reaching higher notes in her range than she was in the MD era. I watched some other video from the current tour and AMLT even sounds like the original audio when it seemed on the first round she was singing it in a lower register.
It might also be she met with some producers that pushed her out of her comfort zone. I cannot wait for Feb 09, Kelly will be back on top. I feel it. :)
Or maybe she's working with people who are KEEPING her in her comfort zone. The big problem with BA and MD was that the songs being written for her were OUT of her range (and just about any singers, in some cases, actually) and thus whenever she was singing them (as she was a lot), she was straining her voice. It sounds like she's really taking care of her vocals now. Maybe it's just Reba we can thank. I don't know who, but I'm relieved because that voice is too golden to not be cared for.
I see your point. Maybe it is Reba. But Kelly sounds the better for it. I just want to see what her new project is. We at the Express keep getting mini tidbits every so often and when Ryan Tedder is saying her stuff is going to blow people away. It's going to. I don't credit him as some musical genius but he has/still is crafting some really pretty pop and pop/rock. I'm just glad her A&R weren't like...Neyo is on the phone. Or Timbaland. I would NOT be able to handle that.
