I went to see a specialist today and it went really well.  He gave me some good advice, and was easy to talk to.  I was concerned though when he wanted to start me on hormones, because I have been told in the past (by doctors) that I should never take hormones because of my family history of breast cancer and because I get hormone-triggered ( Read more... )

Congrats on your daughter's practice tests scores are improving. Are the GRE test similar to the ACT and SAT test in the US? I was just curious.

Maybe you should get a second opinion about taking the hormones to make sure it safe. I would say better safe then sorry. I wouldn't want to risk my health if I was you.

Ouch I am very clumsy at times and fell down more then one flight of stair. I hope you feel better! *hugs*

Thanks. I'm stiff and sore from the fall, but nothing major, so that's good. The GRE test my daughter is taking is a Graduate School Admissions Required Exam for American universities. Two parts are math questions (if you do really well on the 1st part the 2nd part has harder questions than if you don't do so well on the first part, which I think is unfair). Two parts are Language; in some you read and answer questions about a paragraph, but the questions are very tricky, and in others you're given a sentence with a blank then a list of words, and you have to pick two words that can be used in the blank and the sentences will have the same meaning. The vocabulary used in this part is ridiculous; words like "vainglorious" and "saturnine" and "vicissitudes". I mean really, who uses these words?! Finally, there is an essay you have to write on a topic of their choosing. People pay big bucks to companies who promise to improve your chances of scoring well on these tests. Once again, the advantage goes to the rich. Admission isn' ( ... )
