(no subject)
Ah... ok... so the long-promised update. Slightly abbreviated, since it's been so long and I can't remember everything, but I'll try to hit all the major points.
OK so I basically fell off the planet LJ when I lost my job here, mid July.
July:
I took the rest of the month basically to relax. I slept in, played with my cats, watched TV, played WoW on Anth's computer, etc. I was expecting to hear about getting a part-time job PAing for the other movie boss's other assistant was supervising in her absence, but their budget went to hell and I never heard anything.
August:
More sleeping in, playing, and multiple visits to Disneyland (once with my best friend Meredith, then my mom, then Anth). I also had a couple of housesitting jobs that helped supplement my waning income. And I was/am still working for Ahead with Horses and the financial guy at church. I kept hoping about the other movie, but by the time I realized that it just wasn't going to happen I only had a week or so and then I was going to go help Anthony move back into school. His vacation got cut short becuse he got called in last minute to be an RA at school and he had to be back early for training. I went up with him, obviously, though we stopped in Modesto to grab his stuff that was in storage. I also met him later in the month because a family friend was harping on him to get some of his mom's stuff out of storage at her house. We met up at the storage unit long enough for a quickie (omg my first public sex! Yaye!) and then got on to the business at hand, and then of course I went back up with him to visit for a few days through the end of the month.
September:
Instead of coming home when I was on my way back into LA I went straight to Beverly Hills to a house I was housesitting for 2.5 weeks. Huge BH mansion with 3 dogs- 2 chiwawas (however you spell that) and 1 yellow lab. Plus their son who technically still lives at home but who is a DJ and so who is out most nights (being menored by DJ AM!) and his girlfriend (one of Rod Stuart's daughters!). The lab ended up getting sick and going to the vet while I was there, but I've been told she's much much better now. And they liked me so much that they've invited me back to stay during 3 more trips they have coming up. Which is good, because I absolutely FELL IN LOVE with those dogs. <3333 I wasn't a small dog person before (give me a great dane or mastiff someday, please), and the lab, poor thing, was very sweet, but those chiwawas were sooo freakin' adorable. I may have to post pics next time I go over. (Next week, actually! Yay!)
I got a call the day before my last day there from a woman who'd heard from somene at church that I housesit and she was frantic to see if I could come sit for her as she was leaving the next day. I had it open, so I said yes, even though I'd never met her. Turns out she had(/s) 2 cats and 2 kittens. The mom of the kittens was very anti- social. The other adult (Carolina) was a total queen cat, but very sweet. The kittens (Ralph and Jason) were supposed to be well behaved and playful and sweet. However, I don't know if it was because their owner was gone or if they don't know me or what but they decided I was a scary lady and I was to be feared, and also that it would be fun to just go to the bathroom wherever they wanted. Eventually I had to just shut them all in one room to keep the house from reeking. 3 weeks dealing with them was a bit of a trial, but they were very cute too, so it made up for it. My last few days I started finding fleas on Carolina, but the owner said not to worry- she'd handle it when she got home (which will be today). And luckily she was very understanding about the ticket I got her when I forgot to move her car for street cleaning. >_<
During my stay there (a couple weekends ago) Anthony came down to celebrate our 2 year anniversary. I got him a book about Mythbusters (the Discovery TV show) and a day for the two of us at a spa, including an hour-long massage. He got me a gorgeous white and pink gold and 3 diamond heart necklace. (http://www.kay.com/images/products/1712/171294301_MV_LG.jpg) The next day we went to a "wedding" (officially a blessing/ holy union, but essentially a wedding) of a very dear gay couple who we've been friends with for years. They've been together for something like 15 years, but now that our church is doing blessings, they wanted to have it done. Marc is a florist, so of course the flowers at both the ceremony and the reception at their house afterwards were GORGEOUS. And it was really heartwarming to be able to be there to witness their love and their comitment and to see all the support and love they got from everyone there. And my mom was one of the "best men", which made it extra fun for me. :)
October:
And now it's October. Mom and I went Christmas shopping on Saturday and between that and things I've found in catalogs now I'm almost done with all my shopping. :D And I started again at the studio yesterday. Yay for the money and stuff to do, boo for working with the slightly intimidating boss again. But I figure this job will last until next spring/summer and then (hopefully) Anth will be graduating and then it will be decision time as to where we'll live, what jobs we have, etc. I'm not positive if I want to stay in the movie industry, and that could influence how limited I am as to where I live. I did find out yesterday, though, that the same guy that was music supervisor (which is what I would probably want to do) on Step Up (the movie I finished in July) is the same guy who did Garden State, which I ADORED. And my boss has worked with him numerous times in past, so that could be an interesting networking link to follow through with. I dunno... we'll see.
Other than that... umm... I dunno. Life's good. Pets are good. I probably won't see Anth till the end of this month, which sucks, but we'll deal. Um... it's lunch. I'm off to get food. Will try to be more active around here now that I'm on my computer more often. (Thepsychicclam I went through gold_dust today and downloaded a bunch. I don't know how/if that will affect your bandwidth but I just wanted to let you know!) Though, after this week, I may not have as much access as I'd like since I'm back in my boss' office now, she only has wireless, and I don't have an wireless card. It's on my to-buy list once I've replenished my bank accounts a bit.
