Although I don't possibly see any hope of this working out in my favour, my might be getting a laptop soon. I need to go ask my parents. My computer is fried, and I don't have the money/friends/family that know what to do about fixing it. Obviously, that's no one's fault, but I need a computer for school and to make my phoneline work. So, hopefully

If you don't manage to get them to pay for it you did mention before that you were getting the monthly checks because of your mother, and that there was a way you could either rent or layaway payment for a laptop, I think that's what you intended to do eventually anyway.
Unless that won't work.
Failing that, you can still look into OSAP, and you're getting your big money soon.
He'll probably agree to it anyway.
