Definitely. I used to want to be a language goddess, fluent in seven languages like Cleopatra VII, but now I've realized that that's way too much studying for one lifetime. I'm going to stick with Spanish all the way until I start dreaming in it (that still hasn't really happened for me yet), and I'm going to have a career that goes as in depth as humanly possible, manipulating the Spanish language for fun and practicality. It's going to be a blast. And I'm going to be able to start studying this kind of funky language stuff before I even hit grad school! I can make it a part of my senior thesis paper. I can't even tell you how excited I am that I've finally found my "niche" in the world. It just fills me to the brim with hope.
Hooray for finding your niche! It's so awesome that there's someone providing you such motivation. I know you'll take it and run with it. :)
Puerto Rican and Dominican Spanish?! That's my whole family right there! Could you tell me more about them sometime? Maybe I can surprise my parents... though both of them always say that Puerto Ricans and Dominicans speak terrible Spanish. XD
Omg! I forgot you were both. (Somewhere in the back of my mind the Dominican stuck, but not the Puerto Rican...or should I say Puelto Jican? XD) I would love to tell you about them, especially since that'll motivate me to actually *mutters* do my homework, which I've been putting off for some time now... I'll make an outline for you of the most interesting stuff I've learned. :D

That's okay. I identify more with my Dominican side anyway. I mean, I've actually been to the DR (and more than once, at that), see my Dominican relatives more often than my Puerto Rican ones, and know much more about Dominican history.
Ha, really? That's pretty cool -- I'm glad no one tries to impose a single accent on anybody. Maybe I'll learn the equivalent Spanish term for "shove it," so if I meet someone who tries that, I can tell them what I think in the most Puerto Rican/Dominican style Spanish possible. XD

Oh, that's just lovely. :)
Did you want to do something Spanish-related for your career?

Do you have a favorite dialect, by the way?
