I think that was your review. I doubt you're in the minority (in fact, its probably the majority of movie goers that would agree with you) just for thinking an indie film is hard to understand. Hell, I had a hard time fathoming Babel. I own it too, and only watched it once. I get that its about subtle connections between people that have not so subtle consequences, but its far from enjoyable to watch. Not every movie is meant to be taken lightly or even understood. I wouldn't kick myself for this. Just move on to the next flick.
And as far as reviewing goes, I'm pretty well convinced that most of the reviews (esp the ones that are hailing some films as brilliant) are really full of BS. You are plenty open-minded, and intelligent, and you can easily just be honest and say what you think, instead of fluffing the movie like its golden when they still have no clue what its about.
