Being a pseudo-diet has made me much more aware of marketing campaigns and pricing that aim toward unhealthy food. Last Friday night Beth and I went to Santikos (a local movie theater chain) and inside the lobby was an employee wearing a Santikos T-shirt standing behind the table piled high with the same shirts. Behind her there was a giant sign ( Read more... )

i concur on all accounts. i eat really healthy now and before $100 would get me groceries for two weeks and now it just about lasts me a week. also i totally agree about the lack of will power when it comes to eating bad food and using working out as justification to eat pizza and such because i have given up on making myself exercise on a regular basis, so i just eat really healthy instead. i just honestly get so bored with regular workout things and i hate gyms. for me losing weight has just come down to science with calorie intake and how many calories less i need to eat in a week to lose a lb. i've been averaging 1-2 lbs a week for 9 weeks though so i'm like whatever, fuck exercise!

This might be the first time I've ever seen you use the words "concur" with something I've posted. I feel like we're getting a little closer now Jackie.

But anyway, exercise is a pain. I was losing weight without it by just changing up what I eat. I'm using the exercise now though as a means to help tone my body. I'm already noticing it in my legs. I don't want to become a gym rat and get all steroid-gross-looking though. I also don't get a lot of physical activity at work so going to the gym makes me feel better. I think that's what it boils down to. If going to the gym makes you feel better about yourself I'm all for it. But if you're just dragging yourself there because you think you have to, then it's not worth it.

I still totally disagree with the article though. I think exercise can lead to weight loss but I think eating healthy is the key. I think if you're going to the gym and then eating McDonalds afterward it's not the exercise's fault.

first off, don't buy fat free mayo. it's not worth eating. the low fat will do just fine. as far as exercise goes, i hate it. the only thing i can tolerate is the elliptical and its not cheap to own one and i hate gyms. and honestly, after i have olivia, i'm not going to the damn gym. just no. that's a hassle. i think it's a lot about portions, i can't eat half as much now as i could before i was pregnant. maybe my body will be used to eating less after her? i'm hoping, and if not, i'm definitely going to try.
