Do people still go on dates? I'm not talking about random encounters or inviting someone to grab a meal ten minutes before the fact, I am talking about premeditated dates. I'm talking about someone coming up to you and saying "I think you're keen. I would like to enjoy a meal and an activity with you on a set date in the near future. In preparation ( Read more... )

I'm not sure. I don't think I've ever been on one of those, so they may or may not exist.

Yah! Dates happen. I went on my fair share in college. It's usually somethinng that "older" people do. I didn't do much dating until I was in my 5th year of college. Before that, it was almost all just the hookup.

*shrugs* My girlfriend and I still date but it's not that often 'cause of three kids and all. But yeah, at least in the context of our relationship, it happens. Then again, I wonder if the fact that we have to really plan out such a thing doesn't result in us doing it more than people without kids who can just go do things whenever they get the whim.

I never really thought about it before.

People date for one or two dates. Like planned ahead, purtied up, etc. dates. After two they seem to disappear. Even when attempted.

Of course, I'm talking quite some time ago, so they may have gone the way of the record--we've heard of them and even see them once in a great while, but they're a quaint rarity.

That's rather depressing, actually.
