the way I understand it, they are only dangerous if they break open......but no more so than the long fluorescents that they have been using in schools and office buildings for decades.
The very first month I switched (this was nearly 4 years ago) we noticed a $25.00 drop in our electric bill, I use them because they save me money.....something that nobody but me is going to go out of their way to do. *wink*
