Where he needs to go [for songofsong]

He had told the TARDIS to take him where he needed to go, and so she had, careering through the stars on a brand new adventure. The Ponds were up in bed in their brand new, extremely boring, non bunkbed bed, and whatever they were doing, he had no desire to know. What he did have though, was the stars, and all of space and time before him with the ( Read more... )

The sound of the TARDIS materialising into her cell was enough to rouse River from her sleep. She made a soft noise of confusion, rubbing at her eyes and slowly rolling onto her back. She then blinked suddenly, seeing the large blue time machine parked directly next to her bed. Any closer and he would've landed on top of her.

River sat up quickly, her hair even wilder from her sleep. She tilted her head, watching the Doctor as he glared in annoyance at the TARDIS. A slow smile crossed her lips, able to work out what had gone on.

The Doctor looked back at River when she spoke.

"No," he said, "shush. It's this stupid machine," he said and kicked the edge of the TARDIS, stubbing his toe in the process and hopping around, taking hold of his foot.

"Ow," he proclaimed, as he forced himself onto the edge of her small bed, his foot in his hand and another glare towards the TARDIS as though she'd caused his injury.

"And she thinks she knows where she's taking me!" he said in a huff.

Leaning back on her elbows, River smirked at the Doctor's tantrum. "Well, last time I saw you, you'd said you'd see me in three weeks."

She then sat up, bringing herself into the Doctor's personal space as she dropped her voice, speaking in a toying hush. "That was over a month ago."

The Doctor turned his head towards her, and only then did he realise their proximity, instantly leaning away if only from the surprise of it.

"I don't follow a timetable, River Song," he said. "Especially not for you."

He was of course, completely ignoring the fact he'd already lived the even to which she was referring, and he'd already told her he'd see her in three weeks. Anyway, he'd kept up his end of the bargain. He'd said three weeks. He didn't say who for.
