Messy Pants

So I've been purposefully not thinking about SPN in an attempt to not paint a "this should happen" picture in my head so I don't have lofty expectations and get my hopes up in the likely chance--based on my tenuous, hot-and-cold relationship with this entire season--that I'll be massively disappointed and then grouchy and ranty when the credits ( Read more... )

I am staying away from spoilers at the moment, so I don't know the exact spoilers you're talking about, but S8 undermined my trust in these writers to such a degree that potentially exciting spoilers actually depress me, because I instantly think of all the ways these writers can (and probably will) mess it up. The writers have shown such a disrespect for past canon, such a lack of concern for continuity and consistent characterisation this season that I have doubts that S9 will be any better. :(

Everything you said.

The writers have shown such a disrespect for past canon, such a lack of concern for continuity and consistent characterisation this season that I have doubts that S9 will be any better. :(If a certain writing team keeps showing up next season as they did this season (or with for frequency) I will not be enthused. Them writing the occasional MotW episode in the past could be pretty much ignored, but this season trusting them with cornerstone episodes was a disaster literally. Insulting really. I started writing a ranty post about how there are very few writers (just Singer now) who have been with SPN since the start and how that's now affecting continuity/characterization and how that and such a long-running show with such a complex canon rules are making Show ball itself up in knots and trip over itself. If we don't have the writers, we don't have a Show. I feel that the effects of Carver's hiatus from SPN is starting to show and add to that the sad fact that he's not got time to actually write episodes ( ... )

They are crazy making. But in the past, it was for me always good crazy making. It was fun to flail and be spazzy. The big difference now is that my confidence that SPN will deliver on the potential awesomeness of these spoilers is lacking. So now I'm not sure if I should be flaily and spazzy or not as a defense mechanism. It's silly, really, to be like this about a TV show, but honestly it's a fun, convenient, harmless outlet for me. I just want to be able to enjoy fandom again in all of it's silly glory. *sniff* Here's hoping for better.

I'm all spoilered up to my eyeballs (as usual) and I haven't stopped flailing for... like a week now. SO much potentially good stuff! And that's awesome, because even if it doesn't pan out, I will still have had my flail.

And, I just watched the sneak peek for 8.20 and BURST OUT LAUGHING. THREE TIMES.

Oh, good, another spoiled person!!! OMG, THE SPOILERS!!!!!!!! How can they all be so awesome (esp. the ones released last night)?! How can they all happen in so few episodes with any satisfaction?! The MoL tease could be a big pay off (or at least I'm hoping). The one about the specific S1 guest star returning had me in a state of happy disbelief; I've been screaming about her coming back for literally years. This is the one that has me the most worried, though, bec. if it's treated in a ridiculous way I'll be so disappointed. Sam so needs to have something good in his sad love life.

Ha! Right? I was laughing so hard my husband came to see what was going on. Dean's reaction was priceless. I'm a little leary of Charlie becoming a Mary Sue guest star of convenience, but so far I still like her, so I'm going to just go with it.

I have heard good ish things about this season but I feel like I have been promised gourmet food far too many times and instead received cheap takeout for me to be invested again. ESPECIALLY with the Amelia debacle jfc what was that.

I dunno though. My friend has gotten really in to it. Then again I hate the constant Castiel / Dean pandering I hear about and see in fandom. Then again fandom should not affect my enjoyment of the show. Then again fandom is pretty much the only way I keep up anymore.

Oi vey!!

I hate to say this, believe me, but REALLY? IMHO this season has been very uneven and that's putting it nicely.

ESPECIALLY with the Amelia debacle jfc what was that.

Those first 10 episodes are like an phantom arm. They're painful and just "not there" in terms fitting in with the rest of the series. I really just want to forget about them entirely. I'm going to pretend there was another writers' strike and scabs hijacked the show.

I hate the constant Castiel / Dean pandering I hear about and see in fandom.

Cas as a sexual being doesn't appeal to me. That's not to say others can't thoroughly enjoy themselves. I'm just not plugged into that faction of fandom, so I'm only on the very fringes of the Cas/Dean awareness.

Then again fandom should not affect my enjoyment of the show. Then again fandom is pretty much the only way I keep up anymore.

A conundrum for sure. :) You could always take a chance and watch an episode to see how it holds up. ;)
