Oh good, you've come to your senses and all it required was a bit of concussion-instigated neurogenesis. After your selfless example, It should be easy to help others escape the zuckertrap... We just need to systematically concuss every Facebook user! Yes I know there are many, but distributed systems scale well. So if each of us knocks over at least two bicyclists a day, soon, the problem will seem less intractable. Thank you for your sacrifice!!
It turns out that absence really does make the heart grow fonder for some people. Or whatever that is. I honestly don't fully understand why FB is socially so different than LJ ever was. I made many friends because of LJ, but all the FB friends I have made who I didn't know RL first I made in spite of FB being FB, not because of it.
I think part of the difference is the speed in which people are forced to engage on FB: moving newsfeed, high volume, people don't spend long either writing a post, or commenting. The critical mass also creates a kind of social lock-in.
This suits FB, and people grow used to it and don't expect or think about alternatives. Unless they were around a little earlier, and/or they don't care.

I miss the ability to keep in easy contact with people, but it's ceased being enjoyable.
