About a year ago, I found myself tapped out. My birth assistants both bailed at the same time, my practice was slow but at the same time busy (few clients, but each a lot of work), money was tight, and I hadn't been off call in months. Jonas, you are absotively correct. Americans suck at being present and stepping back from the humdrum. Sundays are normally my day of rest, but when you have too much on your plate, you find yourself running around.I've been thinking a lot on this topic, making sure that you have down time. I think it's extremely important to be a balanced breakfast.

I found it interesting your story about the Jewish woman. People can be so intolerant of people's religious practices. It aggravates me.
My dad is always ranting about Muslims, Islam. When I tell him that I have taught many Muslims, and that they are usually my best students, he gets angry.

The thing that really struck me was how easily the guy just stepped in and dissed her religion. He basically said it was stupid--and she didn't seem phased. She probably hears variations on the theme all the time, and can't be bothered to address every one ( ... )
