I bought maroon carrots at the farmer's market in California all last year. I think the variety is "Cherokee"; it's quite yummy.

Ooh! Outside verification! Thank you! Do they taste any different? (I'm a fan of multicoloured tomatoes--in the summers people sell dusty baskets of them in a farmer's market near me, and a fine fancy salad they make.)

They're richer and somehow more carrotty -- more intensely like carrots. Unlike supersweet corn, which tasts more sugary than corny.
