The site is... interesting. I've seen pictures of spy satellites before.
The town hall itself is a wreck but some things have been found. Mello found a letter.
It reads such: [~Ukon's voice takes over~] How are things? Most people in the city have been evacuated by now, but there's still some stragglers wandering about. People who are looting

[Turning the device over in his hands, Sakon examines the screen as the occasional entry pops up, watching for any sign of the return of Gabranth's brother]
The cities... Discedo and Accido were rivals. The disease that wiped out this world originated in the lake from the fish which were exported all over the world. Eventually one of the cities was bombed. Discedo.

... Is that right? [Startled enough for it to be showing; every single day, he gets reminded of how much he still doesn't know. It's aggravating, but keeps him on his toes, so.] And by lake, you mean Discedo's, I assume. Has it been established that the disease "wiped out this world"?

[He caught Mello's expression and couldn't help but feel a bit relieved that things could surprise Mello. He wasn't as jaded and world-wise as he acted. That made things easier for Sakon.]
It was in an article someone posted about fish. Jak, I believe. I'm sure there's more to it, maybe the population of this world isn't completely extinguished. But if satellites are falling, I doubt there's much as far as civilization goes.

He's got some ideas, though.]
You'll have to point me to the article. [A thoughtful pause.] Most of the time, satellites are programmed to a certain orbital lifetime.

[Picking up the comm he begins to browse through it] I'll do so. It's difficult to keep track of what people find though. I know they don't all post it.
As for the satellite, it may just be an earth thing, but they usually come down in the sea, with parachutes. Something went wrong with this one.

[With new additions to the mystery as well as the answers, you can see the glitter to his eyes now when he talks; his words are calm, but his body language is full of manic activity.
He drums his fingers against his knee, repeats the rhythm, tries a new variation.]
That'd be the logical conclusion. The questions, then, are how and why. [He jerks his head in direction of the large label: ACCIDO 008.] What do you make of that?

Trying to ignore the pure excitement practically radiating out of Mello, Sakon flipped through the entries and suddenly froze.]
His frequency is dead. That's right. Someone must know where he lived though.
[He looks to Mello, frowning.]
Accido 008. It probably belonged to Accido. It's too early to say what the number signifies. Probably the eighth. Or a year number. But... all the news articles we've found... the latest dates are 2000.

He doesn't have time to hold back; that's been made even clearer by this entire incident. And--]
Damn it. Yeah, if that thing really does contain the info, we're going to have to get our hands on it.
[He listens patiently to Sakon's hypotheses.] The eighth... what? And if it's the eighth, where are the other seven?
Reply
[He shrugs] They could be anywhere. But it does mean one thing.
[He smiles a little] There's a space program in Accido. The article did say they were well known for their developments in engineering.

[It's likely the eighth in a series, and if it is, then there could be seven more of these, out there... whether they've survived or not. But seven satellites falling to earth (he'll run with that) has to leave some trace, eventually. Here's one--he wonders where the other craters might be.
The thought shouldn't fuel his excitement even more (if that's possible), but it does.]
It sounds like this article's going to be real damn useful to have a look at. You got any ideas where to start? Did this Jak guy have any friends?
[The name sounds vaguely familiar, at least, but if the frequency's gone, there won't be any further clues. Maybe browsing through the network would yield something--if they hit a dead end, that'll be the way to go.]
