HELP

Hello all. I HAVE A QUESTION. What is a good laptop for college? And what is a reasonable price range for laptops? I need to buy one and my mom has been pressuring me but I have absolutely no idea where to start, so if anyone could help me, that would be super super super helpful and I would appreciate it a lot. ♥

every year mac has an offer for college students where you can get a free ipod touch for purchasing a mac book.

but that's not really affordable lol

a lot of people at my college (including myself) have customized hp netbooks. I have a 14 inch and I customized chose the parts to be built and shipped myself. I think it costed like $700-$800 total and I love it :)

BTW WHERE ARE YOU GOING??

I kind of want a Netbook because they're so cute and small and carry around-able but I'm worried about, like, it not being big enough to support everything I want to do. :<

I'm going to Grinnell, in Iowa. :D

I have a mac, almost everyone at my school has one but my school has a notoriously well-off student body. personally I love my mac and would make the same choice again if I could, but if it's out of your price range don't do it. also I hate ipod touches, if that makes a difference lol.

if it helps, I was between a sony laptop and a mac? ibm laptops are also apparently quite good. dells are the worst, that's why they're so cheap. :| and before I had my mac my high school required that all students had a toshiba tablet, and it was the shittiest computer ever, I was constantly having to fix it and replace parts and it was slow as fuck. most of my friends had similar or worse experiences. it might just be the toshiba tablet but I wouldn't recommend the brand T____T

screams idk what I would...DO with an iPod touch, so the whole GET ONE FREE :D deal doesn't especially interest me that much. Also if you don't mind me asking, where do you go to school? :D....

bawling I have a Dell. I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW UNTIL I CHECKED LIKE TWO MINUTES AGO. @____@ right now it seems the two laptop brands with the most solid consensus of their ability are Lenovo and HP? So I guess I will look at the two for now. @___@

Yeah I want a netbook because they're so cute and like easily carried around. :< But I'm worried about it being able to like do everything.

AUGHSDJKGS I kind of want a Mac but it's ridiculously expensive and some people seem to be like THEY'RE NOT REALLY WORTH IT!!! >:(

Yeah I'm thinking about a Lenovo or an HP laptop, they are the brands everyone seems to agree on the most. @____@ I AM SO CONFUSED KATE I am technology-incompetent, I swear. All I want out of my laptop is for it not to get a virus, not to overheat, and to allow me to type/listen to music/download shit on it. :[

lol that's all I want my new laptop for as well, so check out the Lenovo I linked in my reply, or browse the HP laptops on Newegg. That's a good website for buying electronics for cheaper than in stores/from the companies themselves.

I'd recommend a Toshiba. I got one last year, and despite the fact that I am the curse of death when it comes to technology, they're fast, attractive and easy to use. Plus they're pretty cheap. I got mine for £450, and I'm pretty sure you could get yours much cheaper! DO NOT BUY A DELL. I FUCKING HATE DELL. They're laptops are useless, ok. The only good thing about them is their support people (who are all Dutch...) and that's simply because their products are so crap :|

SCREAMS I just realized that I HAVE A DELL. I legit did not realize this until TWO SECONDS AGO WHEN I CHECKED THE LID.

That is an episode of How Great Clare is With Technology. It will probably give you much insight in how I have been dealing with this laptop situation thus far.

I think I am between Lenovo and HP right now, just because those two brands are what everyone who has commented on my post seems to agree on the most. @____@
