the problem with journaling for me is that when it's 100% private and for my eyes only, like with my sketchbook, I'm -- as with literally everything else in my life -- way less likely to do it if it only benefits me. sharing in a journal that's public or social media or whatever seems so much more motivating because maybe I can help someone else

There still are some people left on lj! I find for me the trick is to keep a friends only journal, and routinely go through and remove people who don't post or comment. I don't feel comfortable having everything out in the open. Some is fine, but personal ramblings are for a select audience.

I've found more people are coming back here. I write both open and locked entries here, altho honestly lately they've been more locked. But it's the best thing I've found so far.
