If one thing bugs me, it's when people whine and complain about their situations non-stop and do nothing to change them. What's really bugging me now though is that I am so totally one of those people. I mean seriously, how long have I been commuting back and forth, talking weekly about how sad I get when it's time to leave Van? A good two years ( Read more... )

it's perfectly natural to get bored by doing the same thing every day. Even if you DO love it. I don't know if that means we should get a whole new line of work when we get bored, but i know that I love what I do and some days I have to force myself to go.
If you do start a business here (doing whatever you decide you want to do) call me, and we can get a website and some business cards going. We can do it for trade too, if you want to build me something.

you do love building things. Maybe you could take a carpentry course and see if you liked it?

yeah, what reece said, i think taking a carpentry course would probably be really exciting and rewarding for you. even if just to learn some new skills, just for yourself, maybe that would help you feel more content with grooming?

good luck sorting that out. it'll be fantastic when you're ready to be here full time.

I'm going to look into that, I think. Thank you, Lisa and yeah, I can't freakin' wait!

whining about your job/situation is always allowed. what would livejournal be without it? i think not liking your job is natural. i also think that being uncomfortable in your environment adds to your frustration in your job. i find that when i'm somewhere i'm not comfortable (namely pg) then i hate everything i'm doing. perhaps if you groomed here you would enjoy it more. maybe you could take out a loan or something to open a business here? there's quite a few options for small businesses these days so i've heard. and totally look into courses to take. you might just find another calling! its good that you recognize that you need to do something though and not just talk about it all the time. no one's going to do it for you!
i was in your position and kind of still am since i'm still working. its totally a hard process to quit your job and leave your comfort zone but sometimes you have to do it. and just remember you have lots of friends and fanny pack to fall back on if anything goes wrong.

It's so tough for you and I change from our
comfort zones' 'cause were Cancerians!

You're so right though- I just need to get off my fanny.

ps I initially misread part of your comment as "Perhaps if you were groomed here...."

All I do in my journal these days is whine about school.

I don't think you should feel bad about it. I think it's just where you are at, and even if you don't know what's holding you back, etc... there's something there and it deserves respect. Does that even make sense?

It seems to me that you should open up a business out here... CCEC loan? Rent two rooms of a house? I don't know. I'm sure you've thought of everything.

Love,
Nicole

Also, looking up courses might just prove to be overwhelming. And if you start a business here first, you'll only have to work a few days per week (?) while you take courses (which might be better off for your mental and financial health in the long run).

I'd probably be better off taking a course while I'm still in Van half the week doing nothing 'cause I think that realistically I may have to work more days if I open up a business in Vancouver. I have been thinking about the loan thing though. Thanks again :)

Yes, it totally makes sense. And yep that's my problem- I've thought of everything (almost) but I also have thought both sides of everything.
It was good to see you last night!
