Orchids, woodworking, and life changes

Lately I'm so ridiculously orchid-obsessed. I've even purchased a large hydroponic light and a timer to compensate for my apartment's complete lack of sunlight. I also got  a clip-on fan to keep the air buoyant . I'm the most taken by "Lady's Slippers" (Paphiopedilum). I like announcing to people that I have an huge love for Lady's Slippers. So far ( Read more... )

fancy cabinet! holy! i need a new bookshelf so if you want some more practice i'll buy you some wood and dinner and such. i'd much rather pay you than ikea.

and thumbs up on furthering your education.

also, i'm convinced that when people start getting excited about gardening they are old. the gardening bug hit me this year. especially after i started listening to vita sackville-west's "in your garden".

Aw, thank you! Perhaps we could do that!

That's awesome duder. Looks real profesh and everything.
I heard that some farmers/gardeners put orchid seeds in the microwave to make crazy cool mutations since that's what orchids actually are (my friend used to work at the zoo and told me that). Anyway did I tell you that I have a temporary dog now? We should hang out!

Thanks!
I've heard of that too. I've also heard of putting household chemicals on them to do the same. In my limited knowledge I don't know them to ALL be mutations. It's my understanding that the main thing that makes an orchid an orchid is that rather than having a separate pistil and stamen, they have a "column" that kinda has both. Also orchid seeds need a special fungus to germinate.

We should totally hang out some time soon. It seems like I haven't seen you in forever. We could go to the park or something. OXO

Carter, that is an amazing cabinet. I can't believe you built it!!!
If you wanted to go to BCIT, you could always apply for student loans...the debt isn't fun at all it would allow you to just concentrate on your studies...maybe you could also cut hair on the weekends. good luck with the decision making.

Why thank you, Caelie.

Yeah, I'm still debating about how I want to go about that. The good thing about the course is that it only goes until like 3pm Mon-Fri so in theory, I could (albeit have no life whatsoever) work evenings too.

BTW: I'm still planning to give you guys plant babies- I haven't forgotten!
