Urf. x_X I think Tintin should not have such a masculine face. Jamie is very handsome, but I've always seen Tintin as having a rounder, more childlike face. (Too bad the actor I like more for him is 6'5"... :x )
That won't matter so much, will it? I mean, it's all going to be motion-capture, and Peter Jackson said himself:"We're making them look photorealistic; the fibers of their clothing, the pores of their skin and each individual hair. They look exactly like real people - but real Herge people!" So I think they'll Tintin-ify Jamie Bell's face a bit (or at least I hope).
When I was looking at the casting decisions on imdb I was thinking to myself "okay, this could work rather well" the only ones I was concerned with were the twins, but then I found out that it's going to be cgi which makes no sense to me. In my opinion cgi rarely comes out looking proper. I must admit though, I am a bit hesitant anyways in regards the films. I grew up reading the comics (and didn't find out that there were any tv or film adaptations until today) so part of me feels like it would be a betrayal, and part of me is incredibly intrigued.
I understand your point about CGI rarely looking good. Especially when it is done through motion capture. We can only hope that Peter Jackson experience with the technology will avoid the more common pitfalls.
On the plus side, the CGI does allow the film to be far closer to the visual style of Tintin. Something that can never be done in live action.

However, Daniel Craig as Red Rackham? FABULOUS.

I am a little bit optimistic about the movie.
I also wrote in my journal about my opinions about the tintin movie.
