Well, that's it for the summer...

I had another poor night at the bowling alley tonight: 138, 158, 164. That third game was my best game of the playoffs, and it was still six pins below my average. Pity, I'd started out so well (79 through the first four frames) but then got a couple of splits that killed my game ( Read more... )

I did - but the response was cryptic. I think he was saying that we hadn't discussed the topic, so I'll call him tonight and tell him that I'm taking you up on your offer.

If I'm misunderstanding his email and he says, "But... but... but..." I'll email you immediately.

(Sorry for not responding earlier in the weekend, but I had an Auroras meeting Saturday for six-plus hours, a Polaris programming meeting yesterday morning, a Polaris concom meeting yesterday afternoon, and had to deal with a lot of emails from the weekend last night. I haven't even made a dent in my To Do list from the Auroras meeting.)

You never ever ever ever ever pay for recruiter services. EVER.

Thank the gods you didn't cuz I didn't want to make a trip to see you this weekend. :D

As I said in the post, though, for all I knew, management consulting companies (which this one claims to be) work on a different model. That's why I wanted to check with someone who would have experience with them before dismissing them outright. (But yeah, I had a bad feeling in my gut the second he mentioned their fees.)

Ouch, paying somebody to find you a job, then having to pay them MORE if you're actually able to do it on your own? I wouldn't pay them, based on that alone!

I know what you mean about being told to eat or go to bed, and having to drop things immediately, then clicking "post" several hours later. It's usually immediately followed by an "edit".

Exactly. That second fee was what really made the hairs on the back of my neck go up - I'd never heard of that before. But then again, I've never used a management consulting company before - hence my desire to check with someone who had.

Oh, yes, I've done that. In this case, though, I was too sleepy to care whether or not I'd left something out or worded something poorly. ;)
